Casa Noble Tequila, My New Favorite
Drinking Tequila is ubiquitous with growing up in San Diego. During prohibition, Hollywood movie stars would come down to the then sleepy little border towns of Tijuana and Rosarito Beach to get their moonshine drink on. From the 1950s and on into 90’s San Diegans and Angelinos crossed the border on the quest for drunken adventures “Big Wednesday” style. If you have seen movie, you know what I am talking about.
For the most part, foreign frolickers would be served watered down rot-gut Tequila that was more Everclear than Tequila. And they consumed it in mass with ignorant but soon to have a headached bliss. To be perfectly honest, I was one of those fools. In fact, I was probably the unofficial king of the Tequila fools among the myriad of Americans drinking Mexican “Ca Ca” water and at the time considered it the best thing since bacon.
The locals simply looked on and snickered to each other about those “silly Americans”. They snickered because they had a secret, there is a whole other world of incredible tequilas hidden within their culture, and I mean INCREDIBLE. Mexicans are fanatical about good quality tequila and there are literally hundreds of boutique high-quality Tequila makers in Mexico. These are not the ‘slam a shot and spin you around in a chair’ tequilas served to gringo’s, but spirits that are meant to be sipped slowly to appreciate the full quality and flavor.
One of my recent favorites is Casa Noble Crystal Tequila, winner of the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Casa Noble is on the completely other side of the tequila spectrum, the good side. It is a silver Tequila but they chose to call it Crystal because they believe it to be so much better than any other silver produced. I wholeheartedly agree.
There is a big debate over silver verses aged Tequilas among connoisseurs. Right now I am loving this particular silver. But this is right now, push a bottle of your favorite tequila under my nose and who knows? It my just become my new sweetheart. [For more info on Casa Noble Tequila]

I am with you on this call - this is the smoothest yummiest tequilla I have ever sipped. Why don’t you do a post about the difference between tequila and tequilla. I can never remember whats up with that.
