Buzz Strong\'s Caffeinated Cookies

Some people don’t wake up well. Me, I’m not exactly the morning person I was in my youth. To be honest, it’s a habit. One that I must on some level really NOT want. Because I can barely drag my sorry butt out in time for the pretense of a shower let alone a nice jog or breakfast lately. But I digress, as always. For me, coffee making is an art. A lost art. I make a lousy cup of coffee. You can tell me it’s just a matter of measuring and such, but it’s a lie. I am tainted. It is impossible. Continue Reading ->

siliconmitt Silicon Oven Mitt

I’m not a slow adapter. I’m out there the minute it’s new and grabbing everything I can try. So naturally, these space-age oven mitts were all about me. Waterproof, heat-resistant enough to put your hand in 500 degree F boiling water!! What could be wrong with that? I got everyone a set. And then moved onto bakeware. But that’s another story.

potatomasher Oxo Good Grips Nylon Potato Masher

I have some newly married friends with a bigger kitchen than me, and way nicer pans. They’re all new (the pans, not the friends) and a little touchy (the friends, not the pans) about all this fancy new non-stick ware. God forbid you put a metal utensil near one. These are close personal amigos and they’ll take my beverage and toss me out the door for it. So investing in some new tools has become a hobby.

I have my issue with some of the silicon objects out there – mind you, this masher Continue Reading ->

siliconbakeware Silicon Bakeware

I’m no stranger to paranoia. Having said that, some changes are hard to trust. Silicon bakeware being one of them. I admit to initial love-at-first-sight, but like many of those romances – well, we grew apart. During my “let’s buy everyone everything silicon for the holidays” binges I went crazy with bakeware. Bread, cake, cupcake pans – what? I’m supposed to still say “tins?” I bought them all. My mother bakes a lot. Her face when she opened the box was the first clue to disaster. These mushy things? bittencookies1 ABC Ginger Bread Cookie Cutters

Real mature, no? And that’s only fair people, it’s a COOKIE. And cookies should be fun. Even if you’re not ten. After years of holiday baking and crafting anatomically correct reindeer, I decided that shaped cookies need to break out of their token time periods. Now, I make dog biscuit shaped cookies for people in June. Mangled wee ginger people whenever I darn well want to. Plus, the world it seems is catching up with me. Yes, yes, cupcakes are queen now. I get it. But when it passes the cookie will still be here. Waiting its turn. Continue Reading ->
