The Spoon Sisters - Straining Ladle

Once upon a time there was a lonely Strainer and a beautiful ladle who lived in separate cabinets. They met only in times of need, but were deeply in love. One day, after spending some quality time together (and believe you me the mechanics of this are worth pondering) they had a baby. And the baby was wondrous. The straining ladle (they weren’t big on flashy names) captured the hearts of its parental units but also cooks, fussy eaters and gravy aficionados everywhere.

I love double duty items, and soups or gravy. I didn’t gain weight on air, ya know. Having always admired my strainer tool (basically a holy ladle – not blessed, just perforated), I now disdain it’s minor accomplishments and relegate it to the drawer of deep fat fryer fun alone. This ladle makes the perfect soup server if nothing else. And there is else. Lots of else. From the tip of its hanging curve to its side strainer – it’s a keeper.

Scoop, pour and strain all at once my friends. Go to town. It’s got 6.5 ounces of capacity and a long arm for deep reaches. I found mine on spoonsisters.com for $21.95. And we’re in the mood for some soup stock despite the weather. Is it only me or do you get the weird craving for soup in summer? It’s probably only me. But then again, soup is good food. And this is one innovative little scooper.
